Ready to try something new?

We are planning an alternative square dance program, which would allow for physical distancing, and bring back some of the socialization that we all enjoy.  This is a very different way of dancing, and will challenge the mind.  We invite you join us, to try it out, and to reconnect with other dancers you may not have seen for a long time.
WHEN:                 Sunday August 16th
TIME:                    2 PM to 3:30 PM
COST:                    Free
HOW:
This program is modeled on the Zoom Square Dancing led by Lorne Smith of Calgary.  We will be dancing at the Mainstream level, although Plus dancers are certainly welcome!  You will dance as a couple, with a partner from your household, and with an imaginary couple opposite you, ‘in groups of four’. Each group will be distanced from the other groups. Singles can pair with another trusted single, or dance by themselves. (Eileen will be dancing by herself.) Gary will do pattern moves for practice, and each pattern session will be followed by a singing call.  There will be breaks between tips. Our first introductory session was with a small test group, and it worked well!

WHAT TO BRING:
1.  Wear your masks
2.  Wear your name tag
3.  Comfortable shoes, we will be on asphalt
4.  Camping chairs
5.  Water bottles
6.  Snacks for yourself, if desired
7.  Your own hand sanitizer

WHERE: Potter Greens Park – on Picard Dr. NW, located west of Anthony Henday, and north of the Whitemud.  (From westbound Whitemud, turn right (north) onto Lewis Estates Boulevard.  Take the next right onto Potter Greens Dr.  You will pass a small cul-de-sac on your left.  Take the next left turn onto Picard Dr. NW.)  We will dance on an asphalt area south of the ice rink.  There are no washroom facilities. Parking is ample, on both sides of the street.

Final plans will be weather dependent.  Each person must accept their own risk – for COVID, or otherwise.  We know that some of you may not feel comfortable coming out under any circumstances, and we understand that.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
